Quentin Tarantino Box Set

Brief Development.

Quentin Tarantino is one of my favourite writers and producers, I think that hi films are amazing and so interesting to watch. I think that having a special edition boxset collection of his films will reach other audiences, and current audiences of Tarantino films. During this brief I am looking to create a boxset of Tarentino's films with alternative covers, flyers inside each DVD, a publication about the films and Tarantino himself, and the packaging for the boxset. This brief will help me to improve my crafting skills with my packaging, as I think that the crafting should be really well done at this point. It is also something I am very interested in and will allow me to create a publication, packaging and illustrations.

Brief.
Design and make a Quentin Tarantino boxset for his films (6-14films) with information about him and the films inside of it.
Considerations.
Consider the target audience and how they will view the films. Also consider how many films to include in the boxset and how they will be ordered.
Target Audience.
Quentin Tarantino fanatics, people who enjoy watching his films, and people who collect films/boxsets.
Mandatories.
Research about Quentin Tarantino, and research about each of the films. 3-5 design boards.
Deliverables.
Boxset with 6 to 14 of Tarantino's films in it. Publication about the films and Tarantino.

Christmas Sushi

Brief Development.
A sushi bar in Verbier, Switzerland, every Christmas creates different promotional material for their sushi. Last year they had someone create sushi out of lego and photograph that to use it, this year they are looking for vector illustrations. This is something I will be producing for them. I will also be using the illustrations in a Christmas poster and promotional material. Having this as a live brief means that I will be able to get feedback from the client, and will also give me more experience working with different clients, there will be no language barrier as the man who owns Nomad (the sushi bar) speaks excellent English. I think that I may be able to take this brief further and create a calender for the new year 2015 on the sushi that is sold at Nomad, this would promote the bar whilst making people more interested in sushi. This is something I would like to take further with this brief, and will propose to Nomad when I send over the illustrations and poster.

Part 1.
Brief.
Create vector illustrations of Nomad's sushi, they apply them in a Christmas themed poster or other promotional material.
Considerations.
Consider the style of the sushi bar already works with and how it can be consistent whilst being refreshing for them.
Target Audience.
People who like sushi, people who live in Verbier.
Mandatories.
Demonstrate an understanding of the sushi sold, also it must be a seasonal for Christmas. 3-5 design boards.
Deliverables.
Vector illustrations. Promotional Poster (A3).

Part 2.
Brief.
Expand on the initial brief by creating a calender for the new year exhibiting some of the sushi sold at Nomad.
Considerations.
Consider the style of the sushi bar already works with and how it can be consistent whilst being refreshing for them.
Target Audience.
People who like sushi, people who live in Verbier.
Mandatories.
Demonstrate an understanding of the sushi sold. Create illustrations for each month of the year.
Deliverables.
A calendar of sushi.

100 Days Of...

Brief Development.
When writing my briefs I based them on topics I am interested in and things that I want to do more of before I have no choice. This brief will help me to develop my illustrative skills. I wanted to do this brief and originally called it 'practice makes perfect' becasue I want to keep practicing my illustration skills, it is something I enjoy doing. Creating different illustrations will also increase my creativity and imagination when doing it. After my tutorial I have found that it will be more realistic to split my briefs up when they are larger. This means that I will have two parts to this brief.

Part 1.
Brief.
Create an illustration every day for the next 100 days.
Considerations.
The restrictions to this brief are scale and theme. I have decided that they must fit into 150mm by 150mm. I have also decided to increase my imagination by creating a theme which will be monster, therefore I will create a monster a day for 100 days.
Mandatories.
Research into different monsters, what I want, and don't want them to look like. Blog each monster each day. Blog research of the topic.
Deliverables.
100 days of monsters.

Part 2.
Brief.
Create a publication of the 100 monsters, and other ephemera if necessary. Could create a campaign/exhibition of the monsters to try and get other people to take the '100 days of...' challenge.
Considerations.
Consider the method of distribution. Also create the exhibition not just propose it. Who it will be aimed at? Children? Adults? Students? Male? Female?
Mandatories.
Research into exhibitions and campaigns see which is most relevant. 3-5 design boards. Real life project not proposed.
Deliverables.
a Campaign/Exhibition.

Briefs Drafts

Brief Drafts.

When writing my briefs I decided to look into things that I am interested in doing, this is so that I will keep interest in the briefs as I am doing them. Also I won't be able to determine my own briefs and have my own outcomes after I have left this course, therefore I will take full advantage of that. I have also written my briefs based around what kind of designer I want to be. This is so that I can use them in my portfolio to show people what I enjoy doing and what I am interested in.
