Feedback.
Logo.
After sending the designs and ideas to Anna and Vanessa on the 23rd December 2015, I didn't hear anything back for about three weeks, although I know that both Anna and Vanessa are very busy and important women, I think that I should have heard back slightly sooner than this.
After contacting Anna who is the main decision making person in RayNite, she replied letting me know how much she loves the logos that I have produced and she doesn't think that anything needs changing on them, although she isn't too sure which one she is wanting to use yet. Therefore I replied suggesting that if anything does need changing then let me know and I will send her a higher quality copy of the logo when she has decided which logo she wanted to chose.
Not hearing back from Anna in another week I decided to email her again asking if she has decided which she prefers and what other ephemera she is looking for as well as business cards for RayNite. This is when Anna got back to me saying that she still hasn't decided which logo she wants, but has some bad news for me, that they are holding back on the plans for RayNite for another year, but said that they would definitely come back to me for the design work doing for it.
I am a bit disappointed but doing this has given me the chance to work with people that I don't really know and a real client, rather than just doing briefs to my own standard and preference. I will keep in contact with Anna and Vanessa and definitely work with them again, as even though this branding brief didn't go to plan and it being postponed, they are very important women who are good people to know and be in touch with.

Research Raynite Ideas
Business Cards Ideas.
Although I need to think about the logo and the branding first before started to go into the stationery. And receive feedback on which logos are wanted to be used or developed. Although I have had a really good idea for business cards and think this is something that the client would be really interested in hearing about.
As the clothing for RayNite will have an LED version of the outfit or a switch that can turn on the LED lighting in the clothing, I thought that having business cards that would have LED light running through them would be massively appropriate. As the brand and clothing is aimed towards the elite and people with a large amount of disposable income, I think that the brand should reflect this, and having substantial business cards would do this.
This is an idea that I have suggested for the client, and I am waiting to hear back about the logo ideas, also about the business card, and how she would feel about it. As there are many other options and ideas to choose if not.

RayNite Logo Development
Logo Development.
Flowers.
After researching into Russian scarfs and the prints that they us, I have decided that for the Russian scarf theme logos I will include a floral patter.
After drawing the flowers on paper, I made them digital, I decided to use a baby blue, pastely colour. As they specifically asked for pastel colours, although they asked for many other colours too.
I created the floral patterns using opacities. This would help to bring the flowers to life and show how they have dimension to them.
I think that these floral patterns work well to demonstrate the Russian scarfs throughout. The client agreed as I have just been in touch with her and sent her the pattern, she thinks that it is a great way to demonstrate this idea.
As she wanted the pattern to be an underlying feature of the logo and the brand just as it is in the clothing, I decided that I would try to mask the word RayNite into it, also try placing it behind the text to see how effective that could look, although I think that it isn't quite showing what I thought t would show, or what it needs to show.
The examples that Vanessa gave me to have a look at in terms of logo ideas were some using circles around the brand name as the logo, she also mentioned including wings coming from the circle too. Although I don't think that this is relevant for the audience, I need to create some examples for the client as this is what they are looking for in their logo. Also including the Russian scarfs details in the background as a mask.
Also doing similar things but trying to include the use of different typefaces so that I can decide which would look better and suit the brand more. The reason why I chose this blue to test different logos with is because they suggested that they would like to see pastel colours, therefore I needed to include a pastel colour. But also the clothing itself sold at RayNite will be laced with LED lights, which is similar to that colours, therefore it would represent it really well.
I started to think about the colour choice a lot more and about the audience that it will attract. I think that royal blue says a lot more about the brand and the audience than a pale or pastel colour. The colour royal blue it often used for the elites, the royals and generally wealthy people, this would be really relevant for RayNite as the target audience are people who have a lot of disposable income that really enjoy festivals and dressing up. I thought about including a stars in the logo as it would show the 'Nite' in RayNite, also showing that when the stars come out everyone glows, like the LED costumes.
After researching further into the burning man and the other festivals which Anna and Vanessa suggested the costumes were aimed towards, I decided that I would move away from the LED theme, and stars. I would start to play with the idea of using flowers, as the burning many often has people attend wearing large elaborate feather hats. Also some of the examples included in the emails were feathers and wings which is something that she specifically asked for some examples of. I think that using something like this is much more appropriate for the brand, and would appeal to the right audience. As the burning man hosts a festivals for 21 year olds and over, whereas some of the examples of illustrations and logos that were sent to me were quite child like, and I personally didn't think that they are appropriate.
Another examples or suggestion that was offered to me was the idea of using initials of RayNite in the log similar to Louis Vuitton, I decided to try a few of these out too as it is what the client required. As well as this I thought about putting an opacity of the feathers in the background, this would also act like a Russian scarf pattern behind the initials.
I thought that I would send a range of different logo ideas to Vanessa and Anna to get their opinion and see what they think about the direction I have gone in with their brand. I am also going to send them another page of logos so that they have lots of different options, so that if that want to choose one that they like or want adapting and I can make any changes that they would like using their feedback.
I also tried did some examples of the floral pattern in the Louis Vuitton style with the initials. This is becasue the clients really liked the idea of using the floral pattern and having a Russian heritage running through the logo, the brand and the clothing.
I thought that I would create some logos that have a more sophisticated feel to it, using just the one logo and attracting the right target audience for the brand. I don't think that using someone elses logo ideas isn't very original, and think that its not always appropriate for other peoples brands. Therefore I have decided one single feather would work better.

RayNite Initial Ideas
Initial Ideas.
The Initial Emails.
Dear Daisy,
Anna gave me your email to get in touch with you regarding the logo for our brand RayNite. Thank you so much for offering to have a look what we would need. We are not sure yet whether to write it RayNite, raynite or Raynite. So maybe you could also advise us on this.
The project we are working on is the following: a costume clothing brand for costume themed parties, festivals (such as burning man, coachella), halloween (burning man style halloween costumes rather then character costumes) and general costumes in that particular style. All of the clothes integrate light option (to wear at night, LED lights). We want to distinguish ourselves from all the cheaper looking costumes brands which use low quality fabrics and lighting such as el wire which breaks easily and doesn't work so well. We want to appear sophisticated and luxurious using high quality fabrics and only LED lighting which is brighter and lasts longer. These will be costumes of very high quality, upscale.
We need a logo to put on and in the clothes, as well business cards, email signature, website (logo) and a model for a plexiglass add to put in a possible future showroom and or outside add.
Could we please see some options with nice pastel colours, turquoise,
with different types of reds, one option with different blues mixed (light baby blue, medium and dark for example), a nice range of yellows and so on and so forth and whatever else you think is suitable for the kind of brand we are building.
As Symbol of the logo you could do one option with a heart, one with a flower (different flower options, one could similar to the one of the Louis
Vuitton logo), one with a sun and sun rays coming out of it, sunrise
or sunset, one with waves like from the sea, one with wings or whatever else you think would be suitable for our brand.
It would be also good to try different fonts, like one that looks like
a hand written one and others
Suggestion: You could put our company name in an oval circle as shown in the attachment and put on the left and right wings of feathers or sun rays instead of the children for example or other symbols you would find suitable for our brand.
I really like the style of that logo example. The way it's drawn, very feathery and romantic, also i like the colour used.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thank you so much.
Kind regards,
Vanessa
Ideas.
After receiving emails from the client about the wants and needs for the logo and the brand itself I started to think about what I would do for the logo and how I would produce it. I think that the audience is key in this brand. Although I think the audience is the most important in all branding, this one in particular.
I think that a few of the suggestions given for the brand may work, although I will produce some of the things which the client wants as the client is always right, I will also produce some of the things that I think will be appropriate for the client and the audience. It is important to find a good balance between what I think is right for the brand and what the client thinks is right for the brand.
Some of the images that were sent to me were very sketchy, therefore I started to sketch out some suggestions and ideas that I was given. Also one of the partners in the business is a very important Russian women and she wants there to be an underlying Russian scarf in the clothing, and maybe put this into the logo. Therefore I started to research into Russian scarfs and some of the patterns used on them. Floral patterns would be most appropriate for RayNite, as the clients sent images of floral images as examples, also a lot of the scarfs include floral prints. I started to sketch out some of the flowers so that I may be able to include them in the design.
Moving forward I am going to start working on logo ideas, then I need to get them sent to the client before Christmas day. This is the deadline for the ideas for the logos that I have been set, therefore I need to stick to it.
