BA (Hons.) GRAPHIC DESIGN
Level

Module Code:
OUGD603
Module Title:
Extended Practice
Learning Outcomes:

BRIEF TITLE: Tiger Print
BRIEF NUMBER: Brief 6

Brief:
The competition for this month is all about designing Christmas wrap.

Background:
Tiger Print runs competitions every month for surface pattern designs, gift card designs, and gift-wrap designs. Each month it is something different and the winner gets the chance of having their designs made. You can enter up to four times for one single competition.

Considerations:
We would like you to consider what makes a great all over repeat pattern for Christmas wrapping paper. Is it a traditional foliage pattern, a cute character, a scene or photographic?
Play to your strengths as a designer and enjoy playing with scale, colour and repeats. Consider how your wrap will look on a roll and how a gift will look when wrapped in your design.

Mandatory Requirements:
Research into the appropriate areas – Gift-wrap sold at Marks and Spencer’s to see what they already have and what the gap in the market is.

Target Audience:
Men and women, but mainly women who need/want to buy gift-wrap at Christmas. Someone who shops at Marks and Spencer’s.

Tone of Voice:
Festive, Christmassy, Fun, Friendly, Nostalgic

Deliverables:
  • 1 to 4 Christmas wrapping patterns
  • 500px by 500px
  • JPEG
